Top 10 London Student Secrets

Whether you’re a student or a professional, it’s always great to try new and different places, to experience something you’ve never done so before. London is huge and we’d be silly to claim that these are the only ‘student secrets’ you need to know, because we are sure there are plenty. However, these are just a handful of the awesome places we think it’d be worth a visit! 1. Chin Chin Labs

Based in Camden, this isn’t just an ordinary ice cream shop. Once you make your order, you’ll notice your ice cream isn’t exactly frozen, well that’s because they freeze it right in front of you using liquid nitrogen. While they have your standard chocolate and vanilla flavours, the weekly weird flavours are also worth a try!

2. BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir London (Neasden Temple)

Did you know London has a Hindu temple? No? Well, it does! Based in Neasden in Northwest London, it is Britain’s first authentic Hindu temple, the gorgeous building is a must-see in person! The incredible architecture and attention to detail is sure to mesmerise you.

3. Luggage Room

This hidden bar by Grosvenor Square in Mayfair will give you Roaring Twenty vibes, but for a price. Located in the old luggage room of the Marriott Hotel (hence the name), you can try some Prohibition era drinks so don’t expect a lot of vodka. Though pricey, this place is definitely worth a try for those who want a change of scenery from the standard bar.

4. Ruislip Lido

Located in Ruislip, Hillingdon, this reservoir boasts its very own man-made beach! Perfect to check out on a sunny summers day with some friends, you can have a picnic on the beach, explore the woods and hop on the rail that takes you around the entire park!

5. Kyoto Gardens

Located within Holland Park, this has been described as a hidden gem. Though quite small, this garden can help you relax and take in the atmosphere, which is far more different from the busy hustle bustle of Central London that surrounds it.

6. The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town

Another hidden bar located in Shoreditch (look for a fridge), this speakeasy themed bar will win you over with its unique atmosphere and delicious drinks. Served on Saturdays and Sundays after midday is a small menu with yummy food courtesy of the famous Breakfast Club that is upstairs.

7. Bat and Ball / Flight Club Darts

These two bars offer something different for its visitors. At Bat and Ball you can enjoy games of ping pong or take part in beer pong events while enjoying some delicious pizza. At Fight Club you can invite your friends along for a competitive (but fun) game of darts and delicious burgers.

8. Roof East

Located on Floor 7 & 8 of the Stratford Car Park, this rooftop event space can be a fun night out, the rooftop offers several event nights including open air cinema, crazy golf, bowling and roller skating! Overlooking the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, escape the business of Stratford and have a blast whilst doing it.

9. The Big London Bake

Are you a fan of The Great British Bake Off (tears)? Then you’ll love this! With monthly baking themes and all the ingredients ready to go, grab a friend (or few) and take them to The Castle Tooting located on Tooting High Street. Perfect for those with a competitive streak.

10. Ballie Ballerson

Here’s a guaranteed super fun activity to enjoy with as many friends as you can get together! Ballie Ballerson is based in Dalston which is an adult ball pit with a bar, Yep, you read that correctly. This place will take you back to your childhood spent in ball pits; they even serve spaghetti and meatballs!
