Where to Live in Swansea as a Student
By Student Cribs | June 24, 2022 | Reading Time: 4 minutes
So you have received an offer and now need to make the big decision about where to live in Swansea as a student. Fortunately, Swansea, where the grass is green and the drinks are cheap, has great student areas and the prices expose London as extreme daylight robbery. Here are some suggestions of where you should live, to make the most of your time in this beautiful city!
Uplands
Probably the most popular place to live as a student in Swansea, with students from Swansea Uni and Swansea Met choosing to settle in this part of town. Walter Road is where you want to land yourself a house, although you might end up spending slightly more, it’s so worth it (you also need to get in there early to nab one of these desired digs). Head to the Uplands Tavern for your local pints.

Brynmill
I hope you’ve been practicing your buns of steel workout, because you will need it living in Brynmill. But don’t worry, the hills are worth the hassle as Brynmill is also a top choice for Swansea students. Whether you’re a group of 4 or 7, you’ll be able to find a house here!

Bay Campus
You couldn’t live any closer to campus than here and because of that, this area is mostly filled with 1st years and postgraduates. The facilities are excellent and the surrounding areas are super safe. It’s quite spenny but definitely worth the splurge for all the extras. It’s also great as a starting point until you’re ready to venture into the town and the Student Union is right on your doorstep.

Sketty
The perfect place to start off in Swansea when you’re adjusting to the new city. The houses aren’t quite as high quality as Uplands or Brynmill but the value for money is as good as it gets. Located close to campus, that morning hangover walk to your lecture isn’t looking so terrible. Hop on a bus to get to the city centre, it’s easy and quick.
