Built upon a network of caves, Nottingham isn’t just about the Uni of and Trent rivalry, but about its history and the unique spots that results in some awesome outings. So, whether you’re just joining us or you’ve been in Notts for a while, step outside of your comfort zone and head to these places, you won’t regret it.
Boilermaker
At first glance, this looks nothing like a cool, hidden bar, it doesn’t actually look like much at all. With a standard shop front, the only clue you’d have that this place led to a fun night out is the long line of party revellers queuing up outside. Once inside, you’re treated to a menu full of creative cocktails, you’ll want to try them all!
The location for this gem is a beauty, as the bar and restaurant is placed inside a Grade II listed, restored church, a stunning setting for any night out. The décor and ambience proves successful as it can be very busy in the evenings, regardless of the day… this is definitely not one to miss.
It’s exactly what it says on the tin, a café where you can enjoy a wide variety of teas and coffees as well as cakes and even some pizza! However, you’ll have to split your time between eating and drinking with the adorable cats that run around inside. You’re bound to fall in love with this place.
Lost Property
This is another secret bar, this time hidden beneath Nottingham’s oldest hotel and located within caves. Finding the entrance is hard within itself, but then you’ll have to work out how to get in, but that’s all part of the fun!
Grab your mates to go and have some amazing burgers, you won’t regret it! Located in the heart of Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, as Annie says ‘we are not about fast food, we are for the experience…’.
Annie has more to offer! Located below the burger shack, you’ll find a Rhode Island inspired tavern with unique ales and weekly quizzes!
Known for its delicious crepes and galettes, this creperie is tucked away inside the West End Arcade and has limited seating but don’t be put of by a queue, it is worth the wait. With both sweet and savoury, as well as gluten free and vegan options, it’s definitely worth a try. Don’t just take our word for it!
While Wollaton Park is well known, many people don’t bother visiting Wollaton Hall, but you definitely should. Its beautiful architecture will astound you as the Elizabthean mansions are Grade I listed, but be sure to check what’s on as it is home to various exhibitions and festivals throughout the year.
With various floors, this ‘creative space for eating and drinking’ is a guaranteed great night out. Best known for its yummy cocktails, you’ll have a great time enjoying all the floors and different themes they have to offer. Be sure to check out the food, too!
With two locations in Nottingham, this adorable teahouse serves delicious homemade cakes, and is popular for its afternoon tea experience. Ideal if your mum is coming to visit or you or you and your friends want a change of scenery.
