NOTTINGHAM STUDENT BUCKET LIST

NOTTINGHAM STUDENT BUCKET LIST

Nottingham has a lot to offer students, from its great city-centre nightlife, to it’s historic and cultural value. Your three/four years at the University of or Nottingham Trent will fly by! So whether you’re a returning student or a university fresher arriving for the first time, be sure to make the most of what Nottingham has to offer! To help you do this, we’ve put together the ultimate bucket list for Nottingham students! If you’re looking for something new to try, there’s something here for you: here are the top 10 things to tick off your Nottingham Student Bucket List.

  1. Visit Nottingham Castle

This historic landmark has been recently reopened after a big renovation! You don’t have to travel far for a bit of culture in Nottingham, as the castle is located only a 20 minute walk from Nottingham, Arboretum. The 360 walkway around the top of the Castle gives amazing views of the whole city, making it well worth putting at the top of your Nottingham Bucket List. Photos from your visit are bound to make it onto your Instagram feed!

2. Take a Photo Next to Robin Hood

Once you’ve made it to Nottingham Castle, the next thing on the bucket list is the Robin Hood statue located just outside! Some locals (and Notts students!) say it’s what the city is maybe most famous for! Don’t let it fool you, this impressive statue is not much bigger than a life size human- pose next to him with your housemates and take a photo for your university memories!

3. Have a Drink on Old Market Square

Right in the heart of Nottingham City Centre-the Old Market Square is always packed with action- bustling with live music, artists, wanderers and tourists. The Old Market Square is a great place to link up with your friends before heading out elsewhere, or chill here and have a drink with your housemates on a warm sunny day.

4. Walk or go Running along the Canal

If you’re wanting to get away from city life, a walk in nature should be at the top of your Nottingham Bucket List. A peaceful distraction from the busy city centre, the Nottingham canal is accessible near the train station and links up to many nature reserves on either end. The canal stretches almost 15 miles long so if you’re a keen walker or jogger, this is a must do to tick off your bucket list!

5. Have a Pint at Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem

If Nottingham nightlife is more your thing and you’re looking for a new place to have a drink with your housemates, visit the oldest pub in England! The Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem dates back to 1189! Set in the original caves of the Castle’s walls and serving popular Sunday roasts, this is a must for Notts students looking for a different kind of pub day!

6. Go Vintage Shopping in Lace Market

Nottingham is surprisingly a hub of vintage and second-hand clothing stores, all at very reasonable prices! Take your roommates with you and swap out your wardrobes for a new look and say boo to fast fashion!

This once grandiose park home, now a magical estate, never loses its charm whatever the season. Conveniently located only a 10 minute drive from Nottingham Lenton, this picturesque venue is a great place to take your parents when they visit you at University. This is your next Instagram profile pic for sure! Also known for the deer that roam free in the park, this visit can become a great opportunity to spot some wildlife.

8. Visit the National Justice Museum

If you’re a History student or simply just historically curious, come and visit this immaculately designed museum. Located just of the Lace Market Tram stop, this museum is a great way to spend a rainy day with your housemates!

9. Go on a Cave Tour

Nottingham is also known as the City of Caves and it certainly lives up to it! A Cave Tour is definitely worth doing with any younger siblings and uni friends as it can be done in rain or shine and will be sure to make those jaws drop! For the more adventurous students, this one will definitely be at the top of your Nottingham Bucket List.

10. Climb up the hill to Green’s Windmill

Another great way to see the whole of Nottingham from above. This historic windmill has been running since 1817 and is still functioning to this day on special occasions. (If you are a baker, be sure to buy some of Green’s Windmill Flour!)

And there you have 10 things that every Notts student should have on their Nottingham Student Bucket List! But there is plenty more to do in Nottingham so be sure to give them all a go before your time as a Nottingham student is over!
