PLACES TO VISIT IN LIVERPOOL WITH YOUR PARENTS
By Student Cribs | July 7, 2023 | Reading Time: 6 minutes
University can be a stressful and busy time however, that doesn’t mean that you can’t make time for your parents to come and visit the city you will be living in for the next 3+ years! A visit from your parents is the perfect opportunity to get out and do something you might not have done with your housemates. There’s plenty for students to explore in Liverpool with your parents. This blog will outline some great places to take the family to show off the amazing city that is Liverpool (that’s not just bars and nightclubs!)
The World Museum is a city staple and is perfect for a family day out. This museum is one of the oldest museum galleries in Liverpool. Here you can explore objects and artefacts from across the world and all through time, from ancient Greece and Egypt to the present day. The museum holds a vast collection of spooky mummies, awesome dinosaur skeletons and armour that will not just interest kids but adults alike. If natural history and the environment takes your interest, the museum also holds an aquarium, bug house and planetarium. If you’re a Liverpool student looking for somewhere to take your parents, Liverpool’s World Museum will be sure to impress!

The Interesting Eating Company
When your parents come to visit, a lovely meal out has to be on the itinerary. Liverpool is home to dozens of restaurants and cafes that cater to the whole family. The Interesting Eating Company is one of Liverpool’s hidden gems. This independent eatery specialises in vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options! The quirky café is renowned for its pancake stacks, salt beef sandwiches and chicken soup. The café is popular among Liverpool students so you might have already been here with housemates or course mates. The menu caters to people of all ages making it a great spot to visit if younger siblings are tagging along.

Students in Liverpool benefit from the best of both worlds as Liverpool offers city life whilst also having beautiful English beaches. Liverpool is situated right by the coast and its small beaches are perfect for a walk on a sunny day. Crosby Beach marks the start of the Sefton Coastal Path. The beach hosts one of Liverpool’s most eye-catching art exhibits, the 100 cast-iron statue that stands on the beach looking out to sea. This surreal spectacle is a popular tourist attraction and makes it a perfect day out for parents visiting. Crosby Beach is not far from the Port of Liverpool so you can regularly spot huge container and cruise ships passing by. Not only is the beach student budget friendly, it is also only a 30-minute drive from the city centre.

Another restaurant you might want to try with your parents is one of Liverpool’s most popular Italians, Gusto. Gusto is designed to replicate a traditional Italian ristorante with a warmly lit interior and retro black and white poster, Gusto is a great place to take the family for some authentic Italian food that everyone will love! Situated near Albert Dock it is the perfect place to have a walk around the shops and museums during the day before finishing up at Gusto. So if it’s that time in the term where the student loan is running low, perhaps your parents will treat you to a nice meal at Gusto!

Mathew Street
If you’re a student studying in Liverpool you’ll be very familiar with one of the city’s greatest tourist attractions, Mathew Street. Situated in the heart of Liverpool’s city centre, the famous Mathew Street is popular for being home to the Cavern Club, known as the birthplace of The Beatles. The street is visited by thousands of tourists every year to get a glimpse of the spectacle. This is the perfect place for Liverpool students to spend the afternoon with your parents (especially if they are big Beatles fans!).

As you can see, there are loads of great places to show the city of Liverpool off to your parents and to get their approval (maybe even a second visit!). If you’re a student in Liverpool expecting a visit from your parents soon, use this guide to plan your itinerary. Whatever you and your parents are in the mood for, whether its a casual meal out or a walk along the coast, be sure to try one of the best places for Liverpool students to take their parents when they visit.
